Custom Sentimental Keepsakes

Often, we are storing items in preparation for something bigger. Our sentimental items have become a “someday” project. Other times, we don’t want to throw something thing away because they hold some sentimental value, but we still don’t know what to do with them.

The Happy Crafter can bring new life to old items, preserve your memories either “properly” or as custom art to be displayed in your home, and help you manage growing collections with displays that can grow. We can finish your unfinished projects or make you love it again. Whatever makes you happy!

Some success stories:

“I collect both nature items and heirlooms, but I like my house to feel minimal. I was storing a seemingly random collection of favorite items in a storage space I call my craft closet. The Happy Crafter came to organize and talked to me about what I wanted from the space, but it didn’t take long before I realized what I needed was help loving my stuff. I was shocked to see that she loved the stuff I was hiding. She started asking about the stories behind all the things. Her smile was almost mischievous when she asked if we could combine a couple of things on a wall. “Ok, pick one nature item and one grandma’s textile.” I cried happy embarrassing tears when she presented the display… a long piece of driftwood from my old lake property floating on the wall with my great-grandmother’s Native American blanket vest draped over it. It’s one of a kind, and I get to see it all the time. It only took a moment, but I’ve rescued more from that closet since then because I’ve been inspired”

One of the giant pines in my yard died. I decided it was time to teach myself how to be a lumberjack before that sucker hit my house. I cut it down nicely, but it was too big for my cheap sawmill. I decided to hire someone to cut it up into lumber for a shed or something. The day before they came, I sawed off a 6 inch thick round piece of the trunk away. It had a bullet lodged in it so I thought it looked cool. (It would have messed up any saw that hit it) My wife is friends with The Happy Crafter, and she had her make it into a table for me for an anniversary. I love it, and I love telling the story.

“My grandmother was a quilter. I can look at her old fabrics and remember individual pieces as she was working on them. She used scraps from old clothes belonging to my mother and so many other odds and ends. I love all the nostalgia, but I don’t sew and didn’t know what to do with it all. I considered donating it all to The Happy Crafter for Creative Reuse, but when I told her I was kind of attached, she offered to make something in my own style that featured the fabrics. The weaving I got back two days later was large enough that I could see each fabric, and it color coordinated to my bedroom. I donated everything leftover to other crafters. I know the kid at that craft party doesn’t know my grandma, but they’re gaining her love of fabric art. And I can happily let go.”
